Come and get it: Free stuff for teachers


appleThe new Red Apple Supplies store will give away supplies to teachers Monday, in an initiative of the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County to improve opportunities for public school students.

The store is at 2600 Florida Avenue in West Palm Beach.

Teachers in 14 of the highest need Title I schools in Palm Beach County can begin shopping for up to $500 in supplies on Monday, Aug 8.

More than 100 people attended an opening celebration for the store Wednesday. Attendees included: Elected officials (West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio, Wellington Mayor Anne Gerwig, School Board Member Karen Brill), Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, business and community leaders, education leaders (Dr. Robert Avossa, Kristine Cohn from Kids in Need Foundation, teachers, principals and school district employees). Business partners that donated supplies and joined the celebration included TDBank, PNC Bank, Pratt & Whitney, O’Donnell Agency, BDO, Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, AECOM, FPL and Bank of America.

Volunteers, donations and supply drives are needed to help Red Apple Supplies remain stocked throughout the year. Collection bins will be placed at locations throughout the community for donations.
