The Flagler Memorial Bridge will reopen for one lane of traffic in each direction in early November, a project engineer told city officials Monday morning.

Geoffrey Parker of New Millennium Engineering told the mayor and city commissioners that work on Flagler Drive, where the west side of the new bridge will land, should be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2017.

The $97.6 million project includes raising Flagler Drive by 3 feet to meet the bridge. Utility work, including storm drainage improvements and irrigation systems, is being put in under the drive. Above ground, Flagler will get new landscaping, a wider sidewalk, streetlights and traffic signals.
