The question on county officials’ minds is whether the new Astros/Nationals spring training stadium will be complete in time for…spring. No question about it, Ballpark of the Palm Beaches representatives say.
Ballpark officials are scheduled to give a presentation to county commissioners today on the status of the project.
Most if not all of the practice fields look to be well along, with grass growing, backstops in, stadium structure largely in place and tall masts and netting up to prevent stray foul balls from pelting cars on Military Trail.
The land designated for public multipurpose fields, on the south side of the 150-acre property, remains a big stretch of dirt, however, girded by a thin line of saplings and transplanted palms. It’s hard to imagine those fields will be ready when the baseball fields are scheduled to be, in January.
Stay tuned. We’ll let you know what we hear.
