About two dozen people turned out Wednesday morning for a meet-and-greet with West Palm Beach police, at a McDonald’s on 45th Street.

The ‘Coffee with Cops’ event, from 8 to 10 a.m., included an appearance by Chief Bryan Kummerlen and several other members of West Palm’s Finest.

Many McDonald’s franchises have been hosting sessions with cops around the county, amid a nationwide call for closer ties between police officers and the communities they watch over.

This was the second such event in West Palm. Det. Lori Colombino, spokeswoman for the department, said the first one already resulted in closer ties between police and city utility workers, whose frequent travel around the city allows them to alert police to what they see.
