Banyan at railroad tracks to close for a week for Brightline work

Another downtown road closure is coming as crews prepare for the launch of All Aboard Florida’s high-speed passenger rail service.

The spot, just west of Quadrille Boulevard, will be closed from 7 a.m. Jan. 13 to 6 p.m. Jan. 20. Traffic will need to detour north to Third Street or south to Clematis Street.

Work preparing the FEC line for Brightline has led to periodic road closures throughout Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. The service is expected to launch this year, offering service between Miami and West Palm Beach with a stop in Fort Lauderdale. Brightline plans to extend its route in a second phase that would serve travelers heading to Orlando.
