Popular Tulipan Café closed … what’s going on?

Customers looking for their pastry or Cuban coffee at the popular Tulipan Café and Bakery on Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach were greeted with a CLOSED sign on the front door Friday.

A sign on the front door reads:

“Due to emergency repairs we will be closed until Tuesday 5/9/17.”

But owner Jose Allione says there are no “emergency repairs” and the cozy corner spot, known for its pastry platters, sandwiches and café con leche is just getting a “spring cleaning.”

Allione brought in a crew of about 20 people to wash the interior and fumigate, he explained. He said it was just temporary and the store plans to actually reopen on Monday morning.
