Islamic group celebrates end of Ramadan at fair grounds

Muslims celebrate end of month of fasting.

About 7,000 Muslims are expected Wednesday morning at the South Florida Fairgrounds to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr holiday, marking the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

Groups from several Palm Beach County mosques plan to attend the 8 a.m. event.

Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are under contract to provide security, a concern in light of recent anti-Islamic incidents in Fort Pierce and Houston.
